Shimla- Tourism Destination in Himachal Pradesh

Shimla is one of the most popular tourism destination and as well as the capital city of the northern Indian state  Himachal Pradesh.And Once it were also the former summer capital of British is also know as also known as Simla. Simla has been blessed with the natural bounties and scenic locations.People often to to spend their vacations to Simla.It is surrounded by the green hills and the snow capped peaks.

Shimla retain with conical heritages , and grand old buildings,charming Iron Lamps and Anglo-Saxon Names. This beautiful hills station which derives its name from “Goddess Shyamla”, who is supposed to be an avatar of Goddess Kali. Shimla is full of the attractions that worth the visiting.

Mall Road Shimla

Mall Road is the place which cannot be missed to visit Shimla. It is one of the biggest commercial area and is located at the heart of the town. It was built by the British during the colonial india keeping in the mind of traffic on the route .

Shimla Ridge

The Ridge is located at the heart of the Shimla and is famous for the attraction . The Ridge is the hub of all he cultural  activities. It is located at the Mall Road , which is generally famous for the shopping center. The most of the visiting places of Shimla  like Mall, Scandal Point, Lakkar Bazaar, Jakhoo hill and many more are connected through this Ridge.
Annadale is situated 2 kilometers at the distance from the heart of the city, Annandale is very lovely picnic spot which is the major tourist attraction. One can  relax and spend the time and enjoy what ever they like.

Glenn is the thick woody forest and is famous for the picnic spot , located 4 Kilometers from the center of the shimla. It is also know to be the play ground of the shimla where Cricket , pool and racing used to be the British favorite pastime.

Prospect Hill

Prospect hill located at the height of 2155 meters, It is a great place to visit and enjoy in the natural surroundings. It is one of the famous hilltop temple which is dedicated to Goddess Kamna Devi.

State Museum & Library

The Shimla State Museum and Library is 2.5 kilometers from the center of the Shimla. The museum is famous for its paintings, ancient sculptures,coins collections and photographs
Summer Hill
The Summer Hill is located at the height of 1283 meters above sea level. It is known as the charming spot and is famous for the university of Himachal Pradesh. It is also said that the Mahatma Gandhi often used to come and stay during his visit the Shimla.
Viceregal Lodge
It is located at the top of Observatory Hills and was built by the British in 1888 and it is still well maintained. The Lodge has been transferred  into the famous Institute of Advanced Studies.
